Cunha faces foul charge after post-match incident at Molineux

LONDON (AP) — Matheus Cunha, Wolverhampton’s prolific striker, finds himself in a sticky situation after being accused of misconduct by the Association on Tuesday. The Brazil international was involved in a dramatic post-match incident following Wolves’ heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town at Molineux on Saturday.

Chaos erupted when Cunha was spotted charging at an Ipswich security guard and taking his glasses during the commotion following the match, where Wolves conceded an injury-time goal that sealed their fate.

This season, Cunha has been a key player for Wolves, scoring eight goals and establishing himself as one of the team’s mainstays. However, the club’s struggles saw them bottom of the Premier League table, leading to the dismissal of manager Gary O’Neil, only a day before Cunha’s accusation.

If convicted, Cunha faces a potential suspension, adding to Wolves’ penalties. The FA gave him until Thursday to respond to the charge.

To make matters worse on the afternoon, Cunha’s teammate Rayan Ait-Nouri also received a red card after the final whistle, highlighting the tense atmosphere as emotions ran high after the goal of Ipswich’s victory in the final moments.
