Two students from the same high school in Vendée awarded the Prize for Economic Excellence

The fact is rare enough to be underlined: of the more than 1,000 candidates, two of the three winners of this prestigious academic prizecame from the same high school in Vendee.

This is the Rabelais high school in Fontenay-le-Comte.

An official ceremony took place Monday December 16, 2024in the premises of the Banque de in .

The inspector in charge of the competition, Sylvie Harzelec-Sylvestre, and the Regional Director of the Banque de France Simone Kamycki, presented the 2024-2025 Academic Prize for Economic Excellence to three winners.

This competition, organized by Citéco – Banque de France – IEDOM, is aimed at final year STMG (Sciences and Technologies of Management and Management) students and aims to promote excellence in the economics lessons of this series.

A 4 hour test

The test, lasting 4 hours, consists of developing a theme for reflection (writing structured reasoning) based on associated documents.

“The subject focused on the slowdown in French productivity, inviting candidates to mobilize both their personal knowledge, particularly related to economic news, and the concepts and data from the documentary file,” explains the rectorate in a press release .

1 106 participants

1,106 students from 36 academy high schools participated in the 2024-2025 edition of the competition, figures constantly increasing (+ 42% compared to the previous edition which had 776 participants and 28 establishments) and which illustrate the interest of high school students in this challenge at the level of the requirement of the General Competition.

After deliberation, the jury, made up of 18 representatives of National Education and 10 representatives of the Banque de France, distinguished three winners: Naël Talmoudifrom the Rabelais high school in Fontenay-le-Comte obtains 1is Prix ; Lily Belouin from Les Bourdonnières de Nantes high school wins 2e Price and Chloe Sauvagefrom the Rabelais high school in Fontenay-le-Comte obtains 3e Prix.
