Philips is already lowering the price of one of its latest OLED TVs with Ambilight, HDMI 2.1, AI functions, etc.

The Philips 48OLED809 is one of the latest models launched by the brand. Ambilight, HDMI 2.1, AI functions, OLED screen… Its advantages are numerous, and at the moment, you can take advantage of them by paying no more than 999 euros instead of 1,190 euros at Boulanger.

TP Vision recently announced the launch of new TV series for 2024, and the OLED809 range is one of them. Equipped with a new processor that uses artificial intelligence to improve image rendering, as well as the now famous Ambilight technology, the televisions in this series have something to please. The 48-inch model is the one that interests us the most at the moment, largely for its price, which has already fallen below the 1,000 euro mark.

The strong points of the Philips 48OLED809 TV

  • A 48-inch OLED panel
  • Ambilight on the back
  • A new processor with a dose of AI
  • Two HDMI 2.1 ports

Initially priced at 1,190 euros, the Philips 48OLED809 TV is now available on sale for 999 euros at Boulanger.

An immersive OLED TV with AI inside

The Philips 48OLED809 is a visually very sober television, with its ultra-thin black metal frame and central pivoting base in satin chrome metal. Clearly, it can please as many people as possible. But what we validate the most in this design is obviously the Ambilight technology, specific to Philips, that this TV integrates. Concretely, the latter is capable of considerably reinforcing immersion thanks to LEDs placed on three sides on the back of the screen, thus creating a colored luminous halo which dynamically adapts to the content displayed. To make the most of this experience, we advise you to watch TV in the dark. Please also note that the OLED809 series benefits from classic Ambilight only, and not Ambilight Plus, a new, more efficient system reserved for recent more high-end series from Philips.

The Philips 48OLED809 is also equipped with a 48-inch 4K OLED panel, which promises infinite contrasts and deep blacks, and supports HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR HLG and Dolby Vision formats to deliver images even sharper and more detailed. Let’s not forget to talk about its 8th generation P5 AI processor, which uses artificial intelligence to refine each scene and ensure more efficient scaling of each image. Note also the presence of Ambient Intelligence V3 optimization technology, which is responsible for adjusting the HDR content according to the ambient brightness of the room.

Also perfect for gaming

The Philips 48OLED809 TV can also be used for gaming thanks to its two HDMI 2.1 ports, which allow 4K@120 fps for next-gen consoles. The refresh rate can even reach 144 Hz for even smoother gaming. The ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode, to reduce latency) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate, to combat screen tearing) modes are also there to offer very responsive gameplay, with more natural movements and without blur in the game. A new Game Bar is even available on the TV.

Finally, the television is powered by Google TV, an OS that is still as fluid and easy to understand. Unsurprisingly, Google Assistant and the Chromecast function are integrated, but the TV can also work with Alexa if you’re more of an Amazon team. And for the Apple team, the Philips 48OLED809 TV is also compatible with AirPlay 2 technology.
