The first tributes to the victims of the quintuple murder in the North took place this Monday evening in Dunkirk. If the suspect, still in police custody this Tuesday morning, did not explain his actions regarding the death of two migrants, he had worked for his first victim before attacking two employees of another company.

The trail of professional revenge is favored after the quintuple murder on Saturday in the North, near Dunkirk. The 22-year-old suspect had worked for his first victim and within the company where the next two worked.

The shooter is still in police custody this Tuesday morning. He spontaneously admitted the facts. However, there is still no explanation for the murder of two migrants near a camp.

The family of the suspected shooter lives in Ghyvelde, a small town close to the Belgian border. It was also to the gendarmerie of this city that the suspect went late Saturday afternoon.

Shock is the feeling that comes up the most among the killer’s neighbors. Among them, Johan, 25, who lives in one of the houses opposite.

“When we saw the gendarmes arrive, we wondered what was going on because nothing ever happens, but not much happens here. So it’s shocking,” he says.

A withdrawn young man

The two young men are only three years apart. Johan has been neighbors with the suspect, Paul D., since childhood. He always knew him as a normal-looking person, but very aloof. “He never went outside, whereas we were all the time. We didn’t really see it. I think he was all alone, withdrawn. I never saw anyone go to his house,” he adds.

Like their son, the suspect’s parents are presented as being discreet. Another neighbor, who greeted them every day, describes a family without history.

“No problem, quite simply. Helpful, kind, discreet and respectful. We don’t hear them. When you can ask, they help. I didn’t understand and I’m shocked. We don’t expect it,” she assures us.

Such discretion that apart from a few neighbors, no one seems to know the family, even among the oldest in the neighborhood.
