The 15-year-old was tricked by a boy her age via Snapchat, who tried to steal her phone at the meeting place before stabbing her to death.
On the night of Friday 13 to Saturday 14 December 2024, Inès, a 15-year-old girl, was stabbed to death in Haute-Vienne, near Limoges. In the small town of Isle, it's a shock. The girl's body was discovered around 1 a.m. in an alley.
According to the public prosecutor Emilie Abrantes, who held a press conference Monday from 5:30 p.m., around forty wounds were discovered on the teenager's body. An autopsy will be carried out on Tuesday, December 17 for more details on the circumstances of his death, report our colleagues from Le Populaire du Center.
Attempted theft turns into murder?
Inès' parents reported her disappearance on Friday evening. She allegedly left the home pretending to go and collect documents for an internship, but her sister was caught by the fact that Inès was chatting with a profile on Snapchat. Elements that investigators take very seriously. They tried to geolocate the girl with her cell phone, but the device last missed at 6:38 p.m.
The family was invited to the Limoges central police station on Saturday to provide more details which could help in the investigation into a worrying disappearance. Also this Saturday, a 15-year-old boy was arrested, identified as the person who was chatting with Inès on Snapchat. They had arranged to meet the evening of the teenager's disappearance. The boy pretended to want to give Inès a gift, but was planning to steal her phone.
In circumstances that remain to be clarified, the attempted theft went very wrong. The young boy, who initially denied the facts, finally confessed to his actions. He would have taken out a knife to intimidate the teenager, according to his statements, and would have stabbed Inès when the latter tried to call her sister. His body was discovered around 1 a.m. Sunday.
A judicial investigation was opened for “violent robbery resulting in death”. The 15-year-old boy was taken into custody on Monday.
