The PS Portal becomes even more efficient after an update, although minor, but which resolves annoying problems for some players.
This end of the year is definitely driven by Sony. After the launch of the PS5 Pro and the celebration of 30 years of the very first PlayStation, the publisher hit hard at the Game Awards with some great announcements, including the brand new Nauhgty Dog game. And to finish 2024 correctly, even the PS Portal is not forgotten. The accessory receives yet another new update for comfort that only improves.
The PS Portal still has good times ahead of it
The PlayStation Portal project wasn't really clear to everyone. Originally, this accessory only serves as a portable interface for streaming your PS5 console remotely. This may have created some confusion among players for whom the difference with a real portable console was not very clear. Over time, however, the object seems to have found its audience and could even be entitled to a new model soon.
To continue to encourage the growth of its portable accessory, Sony maintains constant support. Thus, the PS Portal has finally welcomed in beta the possibility of playing in the cloud, therefore without going through the PS5. Highly anticipated, this feature should make life easier for players with a PS Plus Premium subscription (necessary for cloud gaming). But that's not all since the accessory has just received a new update, moving to version 4.0.1.
Notes du patch 4.0.1 du PlayStation Portal
The PS Portal continues to be optimized. It thus receives a new minor update, for once again more stability :
- We have improved the performance and stability of the system software.
- We have improved the messages and the ergonomics of certain screens.
To go into a little more detail, the patch 4.0.1 especially improves theergonomics of the device. For example, it's now possible to press the PlayStation logo button to bring up the menu, rather than dragging it like before.
Even more interesting, this update comes fix cloud gaming issues. In fact, some users were unable to launch their game (notably Watch Dogs Legion or even FF7 Remake). Now this should no longer be a problem.
