It was initially an attempted theft, to steal a sum of around 3,700 euros. An envelope which belonged to the religious association of the mosque that the victims attended. But, very quickly, the evening descended into horror and barbarity. Nadir, 18, who was at the family home in Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire that evening, was found dead on August 9, 2020 in this town in the suburbs of Nantes. His wrists and ankles were tied, his face covered with a pillow. On his body, multiple wounds.
On Saturday, the Loire-Atlantique Assize Court sentenced four men found guilty of their involvement in the murder of the high school student. Three men of Algerian nationality were sentenced to twenty-two years in prison for violent robbery leading to death. A fourth man, considered the mastermind of this theft, received fifteen years in prison. “We were well listened to by the Assize Court, I thank it for that. But Nadir will not come back,” declared his mother, a civil party in the trial.
