The ecological bonus was revised downwards on December 2 by the government. Enough to make the sale of electric cars a little more difficult. Faced with this situation, at the end of the year, companies must sell off stocks. Some manufacturers therefore offer attractive discounts.
This concerns many brands. Fiat and Volkswagen are the best examples. The Italian firm is thus granting no less than 8,000 euros in bonuses “for all” on its 500th and 600th in stock, until December 31. This is by offsetting the various state aids, depending on customer income, so that everyone reaches this amount.
Someone eligible for an ecological bonus of 2,000 euros would thus be helped to the tune of 6,000 euros by Fiat for the purchase of this vehicle. Similar situation in the event of a bonus of up to 3,000 or 4,000 euros, depending on the different situations of the customers. For cars respectively priced at 30,400 euros and 35,900 euros, the reduction can erase almost a quarter of the expense.
The ID range falls below the ecological bonus threshold
On the German side, we are also offering big discounts on the 100% electric ID range until December 31, with an “Eco VW bonus” compensating for the reduction in the bonus. This bonus of €4,000 thus affects the ID3. The latter goes from a list price of 34,990 euros to 27,990 euros with the application of the premium and the bonus of 3,000 euros. The ID4 is reduced to 36,000 euros, the price of competitor Renault Scénic.
This bonus also concerns vehicles that are not normally eligible for the ecological bonus, because they are offered above 47,000 euros. The ID5 thus benefits from a discount of 5,500 euros, which brings it below this price and is available from 42,950 euros. As for the ID7, the premium is even 11,300 euros, falling just below 47,000 euros, from 46,840 euros.
The Chinese benefit from… a bonus!
Even the Chinese are (re-)using the ecological bonus. The latter’s private brands have been launching attractive new offers since the start of the year. This concerns MG as well as BYD and even Leapmotor, partner of Stellantis.
MG thus offers a discount of more than double the bonus, with an MG4 Standard available from 21,990 euros. The ZS EV (with 51 kWh battery) is available from 23,990 euros, for its part. This is accessible until December 27, only on vehicles in stock registered before this date.
For BYD, the price of the Atto 3 is reduced by 8,000 euros (or 21% reduction). On the Dolphin side, the firm removes 7,000 euros from the price of its vehicle. Finally, Leapmotor still believes it benefits from the ecological bonus, according to a file currently being studied by Ademe. In the meantime, the firm is offering its vehicle at €14,990.
