A fire broke out in an apartment building on rue de Candiac in Sherbrooke on Sunday evening. All residents have been evacuated and the situation is under control.
Firefighters received the call around 7 p.m. When the first teams arrived on site, there were visible flames on the top floor.

A second alarm was triggered, around twenty firefighters went to the scene of the fire. Traffic is now restored in the area.

All residents were evacuated from the building safely.

According to Mr. Brochu, the fire did not spread throughout the building. For the moment, these are checks that we are carrying out, but it seems that the damage would be contained to a single dwelling. Of course, there is going to be some water and smoke damage to adjacent apartments, but for now, it seems well under control.
All eight units in the building were evacuated and no residents were injured. We had a bus come to warm them up while they waited. Subsequently, there will be a relocation and the Red Cross will be involved

A firefighter suffered an ankle injury during the operation.
An investigator will be called to the scene to clarify the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.
