The City of Montauban was awarded the gold prize for engaged community on Thursday, December 12. A reward which highlights the involvement and commitment of residents to their municipality. The City is the winner of the engaged community gold award. This award was presented Thursday, December 12 to Marie-Claude Berly, mayor of Montauban, by Jan Tavart, development director of the Spallian Group, publisher of the “Thelma” application. It has been almost ten years since the City of Montauban has made available to its citizens the “Thelma” application (formerly TellMyCity), a very practical digital tool for reporting, in a few clicks, any inconvenience observed in public spaces. The principle of this application is simple: once connected to the application, simply create a report, choose a category (roads, lighting, waste, water leak, etc.), take a photo, add a comment and geolocate the inconvenience. The user is then kept informed of the processing and follow-up of the report.
A tool for participatory democracyThus “Thelma” offers citizens a platform for expression regarding the quality of life in shared spaces. It allows users to notify the community of anomalies observed in urban spaces; but also to suggest, challenge and support municipal action. In Montauban, this popular participatory democracy tool allows almost live exchanges with Neighborhood Life, which liaises with all of the Municipality's services.
42,000 participations made via the application by 6,663 usersMontauban now has more than 42,000 participations made via the application by 6,663 users, which represents 24% of households in the municipality: Montauban is one of the best ambassadors of the application! It is for this growing appropriation of the application by its citizens, as well as by its services, that the City is the winner of the gold prize for the engaged community.
