Sunday December 15, 2024, around 10 a.m., a fire broke out in the bedroom of a castle listed as a historic monument in Landin in Eure. 1,000 historical books were sheltered and eight people were evacuated.

It was 10 a.m., Sunday December 15, 2024, when the firefighters were called to a fire in a room on the ground floor of the Château du Landin, located in the heart of the Brotonne national forest in Eure.
Classified as a historic monument, this castle was built in 1756. It now offers guest rooms and gîtes.
Eight occupants were evacuated and 1,000 historical books were sheltered. A Historic Monuments official was alerted and 40 firefighters went to the site.
No injuries were reported, the extent of the damage is – for the moment – not yet known nor the origin of the fire.
