Arson of a building in : the prosecution opens a blatant investigation

In Trois-Cités in , residents are in shock after the arson of a building owned by social landlord Ekidom. According to information from the Poitiers public prosecutor’s office which opened a flagrant investigation, residents were awakened by the flames around 6 a.m. on Sunday December 15, by not one, but four outbreaks of fire. Three are trash fires, plus the fire in the lobby of a social housing building near Place de , rue de Provence. On the nearby sidewalk, 6 shopping carts and a scooter were found burned.

The prosecution specifies that the fire caused a column of flames on the 4 floors of the building. The fire spread very quickly due to insulation on the exterior of the building. Several homes were partly charred, notably that on the ground floor, completely destroyed by the fire. The Poitiers police are carrying out technical analyzes as well as a neighborhood investigation to find the individual(s) responsible for the fire outbreak.

Still according to the prosecution, one person remains hospitalized this Sunday for smoke poisoning. Several residents were able to return to their homes while waiting for cleaning. Those whose homes are uninhabitable must be relocated. The Poitiers police station services are in charge of the investigations. Technical analyzes are scheduled as well as a neighborhood survey.
