An average of seven interventions per day for the Guingamp firefighters

10.6% drop in interventions

However, “this represents a decrease of 10.6% in the number of interventions compared to 2023, due in particular to a drop in personal rescue activity (- 8%) and a fortunately calm summer season in fires. “natural spaces”. In detail, two thirds of interventions are devoted to personal rescue (64% of interventions), while fire exits represent 17% of the activity and 13% for road rescue.

Captain Cozic remembers three which were notable. First the house fire in Ploumagoar, on July 5, located on the entire first floor. “Despite a delicate situation, the responders managed to quickly become masters of the fire, thus preserving part of the home.”

Then, on November 1, firefighters had to deal with “a large-scale fire in the city center of Guingamp, at Carrefour City. This intervention, made complex by the overlapping of the different premises, was tough.” Finally, on November 14, a fire broke out in a mansion in Plouisy. “This grueling intervention made it possible to evacuate and protect certain property from the home, despite a very virulent fire.”

Sainte-Barbe Day was an opportunity to honor firefighters. Seven of them were awarded the Medal of Honor for ten and twenty years of service. Two others, Master Corporal Laura Salliou and Corporal Thomas Pasquer, received a testimonial of satisfaction for “having succeeded, through their responsiveness and skills, in resuscitating a newborn in cardiac arrest when they arrived on the scene. locations, November 22, 2023, in Guingamp.
