Pierre Ségura, the president of the Francas de Pau, spoke on Sunday December 15 in the morning about the “hard blow” which affected the associative structure on the night of Friday December 13 to Saturday December 14, in the form of a fire in the Maison Daran, in Hédas, revealed by our colleagues from La République des Pyrénées.

These communal premises host one of the association's three leisure centers. They had to run at full capacity for the Christmas holidays – in addition to the weekly reception on Wednesdays. “We had 70 registered, who we will instead welcome at the Gabard Childhood Center (avenue Honoré-Baradat). There remains the question of Wednesdays, on which we are working with the City services who know our needs. » The nearby Marca school could serve as a refuge structure for the occasion.
Big damage
The events took place at night. “Fortunately, the center was empty,” breathes Pierre Ségura. We were supposed to have a meeting on site this Saturday to prepare for the holidays. There was major damage to the roof, it was raining buckets and an electrical cabinet is located just below… I'm afraid we won't be back anytime soon. »
While awaiting a more precise diagnosis of the damage and possible work, the roof was covered by the municipal services.
A police investigation is underway.
