After the most powerful and even devastating cyclone in its history, the island of Mayotte wakes up this morning to a landscape of desolation and pain. “It’s as if an atomic bomb had hit Mayotte,” said a still dazed local resident.
This Saturday morning, the inhabitants of Mayotte witnessed, in disbelief, a spectacle of desolation after the passage of Cyclone Chido.
There are already 11 deaths while fearing hundreds, the damage is immeasurable, like many homes or bangas made of sheet metal and concrete blocks, the Mahorese economy already seems to be on the ground.
