Leinster gets the best of courageous Clermontois

The ASM did not take the water but did not create the feat either on the Leinster field, this Saturday, during the second day of the Champions Cup.

Without shining, Leinster, four-time winner of the European Cup, barely defeated Clermont, beaten 15-7 on Saturday in Dublin for the second day of the Champions Cup. The Jaunards, who dominated Treviso 28-0 last week, started the match very well, with a quick try from their winger Raka (5th). Despite their domination, the Irish then accumulated blunders, before finally flattening in the goal by their center Ringrose (22nd).

Very close to doubling the lead, Clermont then conceded a 100-meter counterattack after a forward attack. A quick penalty later, All Black fullback Jordie Barrett dived into the goal to give the Irish province the advantage (26th). Trailing 12-7 at the break, the Auvergnats did well in the second half, but suffered too much in the scrum to be able to get back on track with the defensive bonus. Enough to have regrets, as the men of South African coach Jacques Nienaber struggled to play their game, only scoring one penalty in the second period.
