What’s the weather like at Christmas? The weather should be seasonal, with no snow in the plains

The end of year holidays are approaching, Christmas is only ten days away. What will the weather be like? It is difficult to know precisely for the moment, as the deadline remains relatively distant on a meteorological scale and the atmospheric situation is not stable.

However, a trend is emerging. The weather should therefore be generally seasonal in . To caricature, it should have been neither 25°C in the north of the country nor -10°C in the southern half.

The Weather Channel has looked into the situation and is considering two main scenarios. The first is wet and cool weather. Its own weather model envisages low precipitation and temperatures slightly below seasonal averages, around 1°C or 2°C less than the norm. In the mountains, it would snow from mid altitude. Moving back towards the north of France, the weather would be increasingly likely to be windy and rainy. It would be calmer in the South. The sky would be clear in the South-East.

The other scenario, which is based on the American GFS model, leans towards calm, overcast weather with less cool temperatures. Instability could affect the Mediterranean, Corsica in particular, but in a moderate way. Temperatures would be between 2°C and 3°C above normal.

In the end, the weather should be seasonal without excesses, regarding temperatures. Snow would be possible in the mountains but not in the plains. The bad weather should remain of moderate intensity. This forecast will be refined over the course of next week.
