For the first time since the start of the season, there is no player present on the medical point before PSG/OL since there is none. What can you imagine a Parisian team without absentees this Sunday evening? Not necessarily.
It’s a rare event in Parisian seasons but for once there is no medical point on the eve of PSG/OL. The reason is simple: there are simply no more players present in the infirmary. The latter has not been overloaded much this year overall and the last injured person has recently returned to training, namely Senny Mayulu who was absent due to a calf problem contracted during the selection in November.
Mayulu already fit for PSG/OL?
“We are in a very good situation since all the players have returned”
At a press conference, Luis Enrique confirmed on the eve of PSG/OL that his entire squad was available: “We are in a very good situation since all the players have returned. But each case is different depending on the period of inactivity, for example for Senny Mayulu just injured three weeks or a Lucas Hernandez who had a 6 month convalescence after cruciate ligament surgery. There are players with more or less long periods of activity. We watch the training, we check the level of physical recovery and, based on what we see, we give confidence so that the players can participate. Each process is individual. »
If each case is different, the short absence of Senny Mayulu therefore makes him a player who could play again as quickly as possible. On the other hand, Presnel Kimpembe who hasn’t played for almost two years now and hasn’t even been mentioned by Luis Enrique doesn’t really seem like a player who will be able to resume quickly. This Tuesday, he was still not in the squad for Salzburg/PSG while the Champions League match sheets allow three more players to be registered than in Ligue 1. An absence for PSG/OL is therefore probable.
Lucas Hernandez back but too tight to start
“We cannot give Lucas Hernandez 90 minutes or even 45 minutes”
Among the ex-injured, Lucas Hernandez made his return recently but we should not expect to see him starting for PSG/OL as his coach explained: “The case of Lucas Hernandez is very atypical. Normally when a player has been out of the team for 6, 7 months and he comes back, I have only seen one case like him where I see him in a week at a good physical level, even sometimes higher than some players who are nevertheless doing very well. Of course, we can’t give him 90 minutes or even 45 minutes, we have to bring him into the competition little by little, but in Salzburg, it was a perfect moment in terms of the result and the context. »
And the Parisian coach opened the door to a much broader role for the defender in the future: “Lucas really wants to be competitive, to train, to play, he has a very good physical attitude. He really wants to participate and it’s wonderful when you see that. Could he play with Nuno Mendes and Hakimi? Yes, of course, good players can always play together. »
Empty infirmary on the OL side also
On the OL side, there shouldn’t be too many absentees either since the infirmary was empty at the start of the week. The two absent some are the sidelined players that are Anthony Lopes and Paul Akouokou while there is doubt surrounding the presence of the two attackers Wilfried Zaha a poison Orban since Pierre Sage doesn’t really count on them.
