Pellegrini: “It’s a six-point match, an ideal moment to win”

“Chimy Ávila is doing well, but he can take a step forward,” says the Betis coach, who emphasizes that “Isco is only fit for 45 minutes.”

Sevilla/Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini analyzed the upcoming match against Villarreal and other aspects ahead of tomorrow’s clash at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

“It’s a very complicated match. An important rival. They only play one competition and have a well-structured team with a lot of value. They are six-point matches against a direct rival with the same objective.”

“Neither Rui Silva nor Fornals are called up for tomorrow. Pablo is getting closer to his return.”

“It was the result of several factors. I would have liked to have had him here. He performed at a high level for us. I have already said that this is a closed subject. There are always different versions. He performs exactly as we expect him to. He is a very high quality player.”

“They are two different cases. I see them both in good shape. Lo Celso benefited from this week of rest to improve his physical condition. Isco has recovered well. But I don’t think he is ready for more 45 minutes. It’s also risky to demand more from him. I see them both wanting to perform.”

“Good players can play wherever they want. Each of them can adapt to any position. Lo Celso, Isco, Fornals… the more quality midfielders we have, the better the teams perform.”

“I think it would be an excellent moment because we see that with the latest results in the league we have few points. Complicated away matches, like at Real Sociedad, then against Barça.. “We need to add the three points, and we will look to achieve that. A strong opponent at home, but it would be very important to add those points, and we will try to do that.”

“Above all, with a lot of pride and gratitude. It is not easy to be away from my country for so many years. Fortunately, I was well received everywhere, especially by the fans. Honestly, I am very happy. Now football is more about mobility and spatial movements than individual abilities.”

“I think the turning point is qualifying. Our goal was to qualify. I don’t think it’s useful to analyze whether we played better in the Conference. Hopefully we can finish here at home with a good performance with our supporters in our stadium.”

“Forcing Johnny to play more than 45 minutes would have been a higher demand than he was prepared for. We believe it was more important to spare him for the next few games. I don’t think he will have any problems playing tomorrow. We’ll see during the match how he feels. For me, Bakambu scored two goals, one legitimate and one that was disallowed. In terms of evaluation, he had a good match.

“Chimy has a rather special character, he brings energy to the team which is beneficial. Maybe at certain moments he goes too far. We tried to have conversations with him. It’s a very useful player, so we are happy with his performance, and I think he can take a step forward.”

“First of all regarding the sporting aspect, he is a player with a brilliant career. If the sports city bears his name, it is because he accomplished something great for this institution. I “I convinced him to go to Manchester City, and I had the pride of coaching him for three years. Only words of gratitude and admiration for his career.”
