PSG: Sale in sight, Rachida Dati seeks the real price of the Parc des Princes

Behind PSG's desire to build a new stadium far from the Parc des Princes, there is a political war. The battle at City Hall could change the situation.

Candidate for Paris City Hall, Rachida Dati necessarily has an opinion on the current situation between PSG and the city. The Paris council voted against a sale of the Parc des Princes, a true architectural gem which cannot be sold to the Parisian club according to local elected officials. This completely prevents Qatar from embarking on expensive work, difficult to completely renovate the facade, move the stands, even change the roof, when you are simply a tenant, says Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. As a result, the president of PSG looks elsewhere and threatens to leave Porte de Saint-Cloud to find a new location or build a larger and more modern stadium.

How much does the Parc des Princes cost?

Mayor of the 7th arrondissement, Rachida Dati dreams of succeeding Anne Hidalgo even though the French capital has been well anchored on the left for more than 20 years. Questioned by Le Parisien, his entourage tried to calm things down around this future departure from the Parc des Princes with comments calling for appeasement and discussion. “ PSG must stay in Paris. We have to get back around the table, find a way out so that the club remains », Confided a close friend of the politician. Implicitly, however, we can understand that Rachida Dati would not necessarily be against the sale of the Parc des Princes to PSG. As Le Parisien specifies, the Dati clan regrets “ the huge price gap between what PSG offered and what could have satisfied the majority “. It must be said that Qatar had offered the modest sum of 50 million euros to buy the Parisian compound, justifying this amount by the enormous work to come to modernize it.

For its part, the City of Paris estimates the property to be worth between 200 and 350 million euros. It remains to be seen whether it is more a question of money or of principle, but if the representative of the Republicans were to be in power at Paris City Hall, she is in any case letting it be known that she would perhaps be more open to find a fair price that suits everyone for the sale of the Parc des Princes. And thus ensure that PSG remains in Paris, with a project to completely renovate the stadium.
