a whole new secret discovered, it's awesome

In addition to adding a whole bunch of very welcome new features, the latest update to Cyberpunk 2077 took the opportunity to slip in a new secret.

Between Cyberpunk 2077 and its Phantom Liberty DLC, CD Projekt RED's latest game already had no shortage of secrets, some of which are apparently still undiscovered. The massive 2.2 update, however, added one more, this one fortunately relatively easy to find, and which makes a clever return to another very popular game this year.

Cyberpunk 2077 puts its cards on the table with a new secret

While we thought support for Cyberpunk 2077 had long ended, update 2.2 added its share of new features, such as new driving features, an improved Photo mode, or even customization options for V. It adds also a new secret to a game that is already full of them. However, it takes the form of a new additional quest, since it starts with a mysterious message from a certain Jim B.

This tells V that “ a gang of renegade Jokers has spread across Night City » et « that an unforgettable adventure awaits, with its share of rewards and glory “. The quest will ask us to recover Joker cards scattered throughout the vast open world of Cyberpunk 2077. Collecting them all gives us a Joker T-shirt as a reward, as well as a set of cards available in our apartment. This quest is thus a nice nod to Balatro, one of the most popular independent games of 2024. As a reminder, this one was part of a collaboration with CD Projekt RED via two free DLCs adding map skins inspired by The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

The loop is thus closed thanks to this new quest introduced by update 2.2. It could also be that this will ultimately not be the last of this ilk. CD Projekt RED has in fact entrusted the support of Cyberpunk 2077 to a subcontractor called Virtuos, under its supervision. This is in order to be able to fully concentrate on the rest of the program: the highly anticipated (but a priori not for many years) The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2.
