In the wake of the cinema and Disney+ releases of Deadpool & Wolverine and Agatha All Along, Marvel has decided to update the official MCU timeline. So, where are the latest adventures of Wade Wilson and Agatha Harkness located in the timeline?
As you may know, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) welcomed two new entries into its already well-stocked catalog in 2024. Firstly, Wade Wilson came to make a mess of his own in the Multiverse in Deadpool & Wolverine.
This third opus of the saga fulfilled the dream of many fans: namely to bring together on the big screen the mercenary with the sharp tongue and the mutant with the sharp claws. And for this occasion (and a big check we imagine), Hugh Jackman chose to wear the tight jumpsuit again one last time… Even if it means spoiling the wonderful ending offered to the character in Logan in 2017.
On Disney+, subscribers to the platform were then able to jump in September 2024 on Agatha All Along. This new series features the truculent witch Agatha Harknessthe big bad of WandaVision. Alongside other magicians, we were able to follow his journey on the terrifying Witches' Route in the hope of regaining his powers. Rather appreciated by critics, the show made it possible to introduce new characters who could well have an important role in the future of the MCU.
Marvel updates the MCU timeline, where are Deadpool 3 and Agatha?
And while waiting for the next release to come in the MCU, namely season 3 of What If… this December 22, 2024, Marvel has decided to update the official MCU chronology, just to bring some clarity to fans. So, where are the latest adventures of Wade Wilson and Agatha Harkness located on the timeline?
If we are to believe the official website of the Maison des Idées, the two projects fit logically at the end of the chronology. The events narrated in Deadpool & Wolverine therefore take place just after those of Loki (season 2) and What If… (season 2). Agatha All Along arrives just after Deadpool 3, making it the most recent project in the official MCU timeline. At least for now.
Please note that Marvel hasn't always released its films/series in chronological order since the MCU's debut in 2008 with Iron Man. Captain America: The First Avenger, released in 2011, for example, occupies first place. Logical, given that the plot takes place during World War II in 1942.
On this subject, we are also curious to see where future Marvel releases will be placed in the timeline. We are thinking in particular of Captain America 4: A Brave New World, expected on February 14, 2025, or Thunderbolts, scheduled for May 2, 2025 in theaters. To your theories!
