The glow was visible from afar, in the already dark night. It all started around 4:30 p.m. this Friday, December 13 in Ornans, when a fire in a house located on Chemin des Sablières was reported.
When first responders arrived, the building was already devoured by large flames. The disaster quickly spread to the adjoining dwellings, nested in a group of 1060 m² on the ground. According to an initial assessment, at least five homes were damaged.
More than forty firefighters who came aboard around fifteen different vehicles were engaged to fight this XXL fire in order to limit the damage, under the dismayed looks of the occupants of the premises, fortunately getting out in time. Around fifteen people in total found themselves without a roof over their heads. Everyone will have to be rehoused.
No casualties seemed to be reported even if once the fire was finally brought under control and the site was secured, probably late in the evening, the firefighters had to carry out checks in the rubble.
