After the fire and just before Christmas, the Hisler bookstore moves into a bus and reunites with its customers

The Hisler bookstore is somehow reborn from its ashes. While last November, it was the victim of a violent fire, the family business found a solution: opening a “bookstore bus” to welcome its audience before the holidays. It opened its doors this Friday, December 13, 2024, on Place Jean-Paul II in .

An idea suggested by Juliette, the daughter of Simone Hisler, manager of the establishment: “I gave the idea, but for me, it was a joke. I always have crazy ideas but this time, it worked. Now, it’s really a collective effort”emphasizes Juliette, as she prepares to open the bus to the public.

An original project which took around ten days to come to fruition. “We had validation from the town hall on November 29 and on Monday December 2, it was gone”explains Juliette. After the announcement of the project by his mother, Simone, on France Bleu Lorraine, the region’s artisans mobilized so that the “mobile” bookstore could open on time. “There are around ten people from outside the company who really got involved. They told us clearly that if it wasn’t us, they wouldn’t have done it.”Juliette is moved, adding: “We are so touched, you have no idea”.

Around 4,000 books are offered on the bus, a smaller stock than in the historic brand, which suffered a fire in November 2024, but which allows the team to find its customers.

As she announced on her Instagram post, this Friday, December 13, 2024, the team therefore arranged to meet for the final preparations before the opening of the “bookstore bus” in the afternoon. Dressed in navy blue, with designs echoing stationery and decorated with wooden shelves, the place accommodates 4,000 books, but not only that.

Origamis, small gift items, board games, comics, children’s books and even novels, there is something for everyone: “We’re going from 100,000 books in stock to 4,000. So, we’ve taken everything in stock, which can please as many people as possible. We’re targeting the gift, we’ll never be able to target in detail, it’s not possible”explains Juliette.

But no matter, at 3 p.m., the first curious people were already on the doorstep: “It allows us to maintain a link with our customers. It’s fun and it will make a mark”she hopes.

The start of an adventure of indefinite duration which began this Friday, December 13, 2024. If for the moment, the team does not know the end date of the project, it is in the starting blocks to welcome and serve to its customers again.
