Burned alive, a motorist suffered an absolutely horrible death Wednesday morning during a traffic accident on Highway 35 in Saint-Alexandre, in Montérégie.
The collision occurred around 10:20 a.m., on Highway 35 North near Rang des Dussault.
For a reason still unknown, the driver of a small car hit a semi-trailer truck which was traveling in the same direction as him.

Following the impact, the red car burst into flames, while the person behind the fire remained trapped in the passenger compartment.
Emergency services managed to put out the fire, but unfortunately it was too late for the driver. His death was pronounced on the spot. It was an obvious death, according to authorities.
Due to the condition of the body, authorities were unable to say whether the victim was male or female.
The driver was alone in his vehicle at the time of the accident.

The truck driver was not injured and will be met by investigators over the next few hours.
A portion of Highway 35 was completely closed to traffic to allow a collision investigation specialist from the Sûreté du Québec to establish the cause and circumstances of the tragedy.
At the time of the accident, it was raining and the roadway was wet, but it was not slippery.
