FOOT (D1B) – Deinze in bankruptcy, what impact for the RFB?

Remember, on November 23, the RFB returned to victory at Deinze 0-3. A particular match has several levels. This was Karim Belhocine’s first match on the Borain bench. A match played… against the U23s of the Flandrian club. At issue: a strike by professional players who had not been paid for several months. A few weeks later, the curtain falls. As the salaries of players and staff are no longer paid and debts are not repaid, KMSK Deinze is declared bankrupt

But concretely, what does this mean for the Challenger Pro League? First of all: KMSK Deinze disappears from the competition and will no longer play this season. The matches that remained to be played will be removed from the schedule. This means that from the 15th day until the end of the season, a club will be “bye”. And no forfeit score is assigned.

Then, the results obtained by KMSK Deinze since the start of the season are reset to zero in accordance with federal regulations. KMSK Deinze therefore finished in last place in the final ranking. Deinze is the first relegated so there will only be one additional relegated club in the Challenger Pro League.

The removal of all KMSK Deinze results obviously has a considerable impact on the Challenger Pro League standings. The clubs which had taken points against the Flandriens saw them go up in smoke. And this leads to changes in position in the rankings.

Royal Francs Borains therefore loses the three points acquired on the Deinze field on November 23. The Greens fall from 13th to 15th and last place (tied with Genk B with 10 points). Why the last place, and therefore that of relegation currently? Because in addition to the points taken, all goals scored and conceded against KMSK Deinze are also canceled. Which leads to a modification of all goal differences. Royal Francs Borains (-15) is doing worse than Jong Genk (-12). At the top of the ranking, Zulte Waregem is now the sole leader of the championship with 2 points ahead of RAAL La Louvière

The next 2 matches for Karim Belhocine’s men will therefore be even more important to end the year 2024 well. As a reminder, the Greens travel to Anderlecht B (10th – 13 points) this weekend at 8 p.m. before the reception of Genk B (14th – 10 points) Friday December 20 at 8 p.m. at Stade Vedette
