“There are 22 martyrs in the massacre committed by the occupying army after the bombing of a house belonging to the Abu al-Tarabish family, near the Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza,” he told AFP the spokesperson for Civil Defense, Mahmoud Bassal.

This strike completely destroyed the three-story house in which more than 50 people lived, many of whom were still under the rubble, he added.

Contacted by AFP, the Israeli army did not immediately respond.

For several weeks, the Israeli army has been engaged in an operation in the north of the Gaza Strip, which it says aims to prevent the regrouping of militants of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.

In another bombing in the central Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning, at least seven people were killed, according to Bassal.

For its part, the Israeli army indicated that two projectiles were fired on Wednesday from the center of Gaza towards Israel and intercepted by the air force. Two other projectiles fell in an uninhabited area, according to the army.

The war in the Gaza Strip was launched by Israel after the unprecedented attack on its territory by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of 1,206 people on the Israeli side, the majority civilians, according to a count by the ‘AFP produced from official data and including hostages who died or were killed in captivity in the Gaza Strip.

That day, 251 people were kidnapped on Israeli soil. A total of 96 hostages remain in Gaza, 34 of whom were declared dead by the army.

The Israeli offensive has left more than 44,786 dead in the Gaza Strip, the majority civilians, according to data from the Hamas Ministry of Health for Gaza, deemed reliable by the UN.
