(Boursier.com) — Google (Alphabet) reportedly asked the US FTC to terminate its exclusive cloud deal Microsoft with the artificial intelligence startup OpenAI, indicates The Information. The request reportedly came as the Federal Trade Commission questioned Google about Microsoft’s business practices as part of a broader investigation, according to a person directly involved in the discussions, cited by The Information. According to the article, groups purchasing OpenAI technology through Microsoft could be forced to incur additional expenses if they are not already using Microsoft servers for their operations. Expenses that could, according to Google and other rivals, affect customers.
