Today, the alleged perpetrator facts, a woman in her fortiesis still hospitalized in Rouen with “an engaged vital prognosis”, according to Rémi Coutin, the public prosecutor from Évreux. His sonone of the four victims of the fire, in addition to the forty-year-old, was heard by the police.

He would have returned from Paris the previous weekend to celebrate his birthday with his mother. But on Monday morning, the day of the tragedy, he was woken up by his mother. “ She sprayed gasoline on the bedwhere he was, witha lighter in hand», informs us the prosecutor. The young man then managed to get up and tried to “belt” his mother, but she still managed to activate her lighter. Consequence: the bed, the bedroom and then the entire apartment burst into flames.

The son managed to take his mother to the balcony of the apartment but while the firefighters had intervened and she was in the basket deployed by them, she managed to jump out of the basket and fell with a height equivalent to four floors.

The investigation continues. “If this course of events were confirmed and Madam was able to leave the hospital, which is highly improbable as it stands, given the seriousness of her injuries, it is likely that proceedings could not be initiated, given the psychiatric problems from which she clearly suffered,” concludes the prosecutor.

For its part, the social landlord MonLogement27 filed a complaint against its tenant.
