Around ten people were victims of a fake ticket scam for Disneyland Paris carried out by a hairdresser from Boulogne-sur-Mer. The latter allegedly committed other scams such as creating a false death announcement for a baby. The victims filed a complaint.
In Boulogne-sur-Mer, a large-scale scam is the subject of strong denunciations on social networks, reports in particular France Blue North.
Attractive prices
It all started with the sale of fake tickets for a trip to the Disneyland Paris theme park. “A Boulonnais […] sold tickets at 40 euros for a 2-day stay at Disney, transport and hotel included, on December 22 and 23, 2024, particularly targeting families with limited financial means.told Laurent Butin, one of the victims near France 3 Hauts-de-France. He justified this low price by claiming to have “received subsidies”.
To please his loved ones, Laurent Butin decided to take advantage of this offer, paying 120 euros. He went to a local hair salon to pay for his order by credit card on the merchant’s terminal.
Laurent Butin does not seem to be the only one to have been duped by this hairdresser. After exchanging messages with him and understanding that it was a scam, he filed a complaint on December 9, 2024 at the Boulogne-sur-Mer police station. On site, he found around ten other victims. “But that’s probably not everyone.”he adds. The exact number of victims remains difficult to determine.
“He invented the story of 19 canceled places”says another victim contacted on social networks by our colleagues. “I fell into his trap. I tried to ask him for a refund, but to no avail.”
Other scams
But that’s not all. This same individual also allegedly set up a fake online fundraiser, claiming that his partner’s child had died and asking for donations to get through this ordeal. The announcement he had created closely resembled an original, except that the syntax and punctuation were awkward, and it mentioned the Toupet-Sotty funeral directors in Boulogne-sur-Mer. After investigation, Internet users discovered that the child declared dead did not exist.
The victims’ Facebook page ended up highlighting other scams associated with this same hairdresser from Boulogne-sur-Mer: “fake hair salon burglary”, “sale of mystery envelopes”, “stay at Disneyland”, “fake jackpot” et “death of an imaginary child”.
Contacted by France 3 Hauts-de-Francethe Boulogne-sur-Mer public prosecutor’s office did not respond to their requests, but the police officers at the police station reportedly indicated to Laurent Butin that they were taking care of the victims.
