After five days of tracking, police arrested a 26-year-old man on Monday, December 9 in the investigation into the “targeted” assassination of the boss of a health insurance giant in New York last week. Luigi Mangione was charged with murder, but also with two offenses relating to firearms laws and another concerning the falsification of one or more documents, according to court documents obtained by the daily New York Times and the channel CNN.
Earlier Monday, Jessica Tisch, the boss of the New York police, announced the arrest of this individual by “ members of the Altoona Police Department “, 500 km west of New York,” for possession of firearms ».
Luigi Mangione was arrested at a McDonald’s in central Pennsylvania. Thinking he recognized him based on photos released by authorities, a fast-food employee called the police. When he was arrested, he was in possession of a three-page handwritten document appearing to indicate that he was not particularly favorable to the business community.

But Luigi Mangione also and above all had on him – this is why he is in police custody – a pistol fitted with a silencer which closely resembles the one we can see in the images of CCTV footage of the murder of Brian Thompson when he is shot in the back. This is apparently a “ghost gun” – a ghost gun – which can be purchased on Internet in spare parts. Easy to reassemble, the weapon also has the immense advantage of being untraceable since there is no serial number on it.
