Established at Place Bouchard since 1920 in Caen (Calvados), the stationery, first known under the name Ladroue, became Full Sky in 1991. But from mid-December 2024, it’s a new logo, new colors and above all a new name which will be visible on the front.
Plein Ciel becomes Semicolon and affirms its status as a local business.
Becoming symbolically independent
For Lionel Piquet, co-director of the historic store, this change is essential and symbolic: “We have always been independent. For a long time, Plein Ciel perfectly represented the store’s offering. This is no longer the case. » And for good reason, initially a stationery store, the store now offers multiple worlds: bookstore, creative hobbies, youth universe, decorations, giftx…
In the imagination of customers, the store is a big chain, this is not the case since we have always been independent. Today, it is our local and historical roots, our proximity that we want to display through this name and these colors.
A new name and a new logo
The starting point for this change is creating a new identity thanks to the name Point Virgule and the associated logo. “The name semicolon has existed for a very long time, it is in fact the name of the company. It is a symbolic name, between the period and the comma, which links ideas. In this case, which links our different universes,” explains Lionel Piquet.
For this new beginning, new colors. Goodbye to red, make way for green and blue. On the logo side, the store worked with the communications agency Unik Studio and D-Sign for the storefront.
New worlds in the store
A new era is blowing over the store so that new spaces have been designed by the team. From now on, it is possible to find a youth universe at the entrance to the store where the offer has become more dense. “This responds to a real demand. Instead of browsing the entire store, you can find books, toys, creative hobbies and stuffed animals in this area dedicated to children. »
Further on, a board games area is available to customers and upstairs the “fine arts” range and haberdashery have expanded.
An event on December 14
Despite a new identity, the faces of the store have not changed. Lionel Piquet has worked here for 22 years and took over management with Lionel Legout six years ago: “We have a great team and that contributes to the success of this local business. »
In mid-December, the store will celebrate its renewal with a small event. On the program, activities for children and balloons to celebrate the official announcement. The activities will begin on Friday the 13th with elves and will continue on Saturday, including the arrival of Santa Claus.
