The Bloc Québécois gained a percentage point of voting intentions for the next federal elections in the Montmorency-Charlevoix riding, to the detriment of the Conservatives who lost one.
This is what the December 8 update of the electoral analysis and projections site qc125.com reports.
While the gap between the two parties was only 1% a week ago on this same site, Bloc MP Caroline Desbiens is moving ahead with 40% of voting intentions, compared to 37% for the Party. Conservative of Canada, still without an official candidate.
The gap is also widening in the probabilities of victory, since if an election took place today, the Bloc would have a 70% chance of winning, compared to 30% for the Conservatives.
The date of the next federal election is still unknown. The Liberal government has until the fall of 2025 to launch one, but its minority situation and the end of its agreement with the NDP could precipitate an election if the opposition parties unite to overthrow it.
