Premier League. Arsenal slowed down in the league after a draw against Fulham

Arsenal were only able to bring home a point from Fulham (1-1) on Sunday, three days before hosting Monaco in the Champions League, a poor performance in the race for the Premier League title.

The “Gunners” thought they won with a goal scored by Bukayo Saka (88′), but the VAR detected an offside by the English winger. The point obtained at Craven Cottage allows them to climb to second place with 29 points, pending Chelsea’s match (28 pts) at Tottenham at the end of the afternoon.

The Reds can take a 9-point lead

But this especially benefits Liverpool (35 pts), comfortable leader despite the postponement of their match at Everton on Saturday due to the storm. The “Reds” also took advantage of the 2-2 draw conceded by Manchester City (4e27 pts) the day before at Crystal Palace.

On Sunday, Arsenal confiscated the ball from the start, but were surprised in the first quarter of an hour on a counter-attack. Raul Jimenez, on an opening from Kenny Tete, went behind Jakub Kiwior, anticipated the return of William Saliba and deceived David Raya with a cross shot (11′, 1-0) Before the opening score, possession was less than 20% for Fulham, who only crossed the halfway line once.

Arsenal equalized in the second half from a corner, their favorite weapon: Declan Rice’s kick found the head of Kai Havertz at the far post, taken by Saliba at close range (52nd, 1-1). This is the second goal in two matches for the French defender, after that scored against Manchester United (2-0) on Wednesday.
