Hamas releases video of Israeli hostage held in Gaza

The Palestinian terrorist movement continues its blackmail, more than a year after its deadly attack during which 251 people were kidnapped on Israeli soil. This Saturday, December 7, Hamas released a video of approximately 3 minutes 30 seconds, in which we see a young man speaking in Hebrew and calling for pressure on the Israeli government to obtain his release. The date of this recording could not be verified.

According to AFP, the family of the young man, Matan Zangauker, aged 24 at the time of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, authorized the broadcast of this video.

96 people are still hostages in Gaza, 34 of whom have been declared dead by the Israeli army. Since the start of the military operation launched by Israel in Gaza, following the terrorist attack of October 7, only one one-week truce came into force, in November 2023. During this, 105 hostages were released in a deal that also led to the release of 240 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. Subsequently, seven hostages were released by the IDF, while negotiations for a truce remained stalled for months.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian armed movement which participated in the October 7 attack, had already broadcast videos of hostages since the start of the war.
