The director of Baumettes prison and one of her deputies were the targets of death threats on the evening of Friday, December 6, in Marseille. Two men aged 17 and 21 were placed in pre-trial detention and charged.

The contract would have been issued by an inmate of the Baumettes prison in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), suspected of belonging to the DZ Mafia drug trafficking group. “A contract appeared on the social network TikTok, where they clearly announced the price on the head of the chief deputy of detentions to the tune of 120,000 euros, and it also specifies his address. And at the same time, the director, the head of the prison, received written threats concerning her”details Bruno Marrou, deputy regional secretary of the UFAP-Unsra-Justice Paca-Corse.

The director and her deputy were removed from their duties and placed under protection. The situation is considered exceptionally serious by the Ministry of Justice. After the threats, the police increased patrols around the prison. Two suspects aged 17 and 21 were arrested after a chase. They had just gotten rid of a bag containing an automatic pistol and a large knife.
