The day after his televised speech, Emmanuel Macron receives the leaders of the political parties this Friday, with the exception of the RN and LFI. The PS said it was open to “reciprocal concessions” with a view to the formation of a new government.
And now… Let's forget this angry televised intervention by a head of state who showed himself incapable on Thursday December 5 of recognizing his responsibilities in a political crisis that he himself opened, while blaming the deputies. But what right does Emmanuel Macron have to criticize parliamentarians for exercising a power of censorship that the Constitution nevertheless grants them? Yes, let's quickly forget this speech which was not at presidential level. Because now the main thing is elsewhere. More than ever, government parties find themselves masters of their destiny. And the equation is simple, there are only two possibilities. Or start the same madness again, that is to say rely on the goodwill of the National Rally and accept, week after week, concessions which will only end when Marine Le Pen sees fit to censor once again. At the risk of France losing its respectability, even its honor. Or, finally, emerge from this crisis on top. That is to say, sit around a table and negotiate to manage the country's affairs together.

Emmanuel Macron is due to receive several political leaders at the Elysée this Friday, December 6, from the Socialist Party (PS) to the Les Républicains (LR) party. Thursday, Gabriel Attal, leader of the Macronist deputies, said he was ready to work on a non-censorship pact, then Laurent Wauquiez, boss of LR elected officials in the National Assembly, promised not to block anything. This Friday morning, at the microphone of Francinfo, Olivier Faure, first secretary of the PS, proposed “reciprocal concessions” with a view to the formation of a new government. ” Aware “ of the state of public finances, he even said he was ready to ” discuss “ of pension reform. A notable inflection immediately denounced by La France insoumise. The socialists having – at least temporarily – emancipated themselves from the rule of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, we are almost there! It remains to find the method, by not repeating the same mistakes made by Michel Barnier. The resigning head of government was too hasty in trying to pass a budget, without having first obtained a minimum agreement on a program. We must therefore proceed in the opposite way.
This is why it is not time to find a Prime Minister. This is not the emergency. The responsible parties must first agree on a few measures to be adopted within a specific time frame. We can cite three on which the groups could find agreement: maintaining the purchasing power of the French, strengthening security and establishing greater tax justice to better distribute the effort required to make up the deficits. Is it impossible to agree on this? Afterwards, but only afterwards, a Prime Minister would be appointed to implement this minimum policy within a specific time. This is why it might be useful to start by choosing a “prefigurator” responsible for working on this agreement, before installing a head of government, as proposed by Olivier Faure, the boss of the socialists.

Would these parties, by agreeing to govern at the cost of concessions, compromise themselves? No, they would simply compromise. As is the rule in the vast majority of European countries, accustomed to such coalitions. Would the French blame them? On the contrary, according to all opinion studies, they only aspire to a return to stability. And in this troubled period, they have only one wish: that parliamentarians know how to demonstrate responsibility, and that, beyond speeches, in the face of extremes, they finally build a real republican front.
