A symbolic gathering in Quimperlé on this strike day

Around fifty people gathered in front of Quimperlé town hall to ask for more resources for public services on Thursday, November 5 morning. “We wanted to mark the occasion by being here. But most people will go to join the processions in or ,” smiles Gwendoline Andrieux from the Solidaires union. She defends the importance of “defending public service”.

“Means to fulfill our missions”

She returns in particular to the three waiting days presented in the 2025 budget and the desire of the former government to align the public with the private sector in the event of sick leave. “They want to make us seem like people who work less. This will especially push the most precarious, such as AESH (accompanying students with disabilities), to come to work sick,” says the unionist.

“We need additional resources to fulfill our missions. At school, we are taught about inclusion. It's a great project. But teachers don’t always have the time or the AESH to help them,” adds Gwendoline Andrieux.

Against the reduction in sickness benefits

“At the hospital, we are committed to defending the public service. We are against the three-day waiting period and the reduction in sickness benefit,” added Audrey Quemat, of the CGT Santé.
