This Thursday, December 5, 2024, the Eiffel high school in Dijon was the scene of a blockade attempt. Around 7:40 a.m., individuals attempted to disrupt access to the establishment by placing trash cans in front of the main gate. The principal, wishing to prevent any excess, went out to initiate a dialogue and try to resolve the situation peacefully. Unfortunately, he received a flaming projectile in the neck, causing a minor injury.
Quickly taken care of by the firefighters, the principal was transported to the University Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, his state of health is not considered worrying. The police, present on site shortly after the incident, ensured security around the establishment, allowing students to return to their classes without further disruption.
The management of the Dijon academy quickly reacted by setting up a listening and psychological support unit for students and members of the educational team, shocked by these events. David Muller, academy inspector and director of national education services for Côte-d’Or, also visited the site. He wanted to personally provide his support to the injured principal, as well as to the entire school community affected by this incident.
This event recalls the importance of security in educational establishments, particularly in a context of growing social tensions. The presence of law enforcement and the rapid response of emergency services made it possible to limit the consequences of this attack, while reassuring the educational community of the authorities’ desire to preserve the safety of students and staff. The academy stressed that the safety and well-being of all school stakeholders remains an absolute priority.
