Alex Megos documents his recent visit to the US, where he tries his hand at a futuristic Chocolate Factory project (Red River Gorge) which could prove to be the hardest sporting route in the US once released… around 9b+/c according to his estimate! This is the direct starting variant of “Pure Imagination” (famous 8c+ places first created by Jo Siegrist in 2010), which Alex visits regularly every time he comes to Kentucky. The project which starts just to the right of the classic line, connects the sordid finger boulder steps between 7C+ and 8A+ boulder in its lower part before finishing in the resistant finale in the classic 8c+. For a set that seems lunar looking at the images! We remind you that Alex had the luxury of flashing “Pure Imagination” in 2012! For the moment, the hardest route in the US which is not in the planning stage is “Supreme Jumbo Love” (premiere: Seb Bouin – 2022).
Alex Megos documents his recent visit to the US, where he is trying a futuristic project at Chocolate Factory (Red River Gorge) that could turn out to be the hardest sport route in the US once freed… around 9b+/c on his opinion! This is the direct start of “Pure Imagination” (famous 8c+ of the place, first ascent by Jo Siegrist in 2010), which Alex visits regularly every time he’s coming to Kentucky. The project, which starts just to the right of the classic line, links several fingery bouldering crux moves between 7C+ and 8A+ boulder in its lower part before finishing in the resistant top part of the classic 8c+. All in all, a climb that looks lunar from the looks of it! Remember that Alex had the luxury of flashing “Pure Imagination” in 2012! For the moment, America’s hardest route which has been freed seems “Supreme Jumbo Love” (first ascent by Seb Bouin – 2022).
