The cryptocurrency platform Coinbase announced on Monday the launch of a new feature allowing you to purchase cryptos using Apple Pay.
Apple Pay integrated into fiat-crypto purchases
Apple Pay is now available for all purchases of fiat to crypto (i.e. conversions of fiat currencies like the Euro) via Coinbase Onrampa tool that developers and websites can use to accept cryptocurrency payments from their customers.
Through this integration, a customer can use Apple Pay to purchase a product or service, paying in dollars which are then converted into cryptocurrencies for the merchant. Coinbase promises a simplified verification process and free conversion options to return to fiat currency.
An improved user experience
According to Coinbase, Coinbase Onramp users can expect an enhanced experience, including:
- A conversion fiat-crypto fast, completed in seconds.
- Access to the most popular payment methods.
- Increased ease for American customers who use Apple Pay.
No modification required for developers
Developers already using Coinbase Onramp have no changes to make to their existing integration. Customers will automatically see Apple Pay as a payment option when they make a qualifying purchase.
This initiative simplifies access to cryptocurrencies and makes payments more seamless for users and merchants, solidifying Coinbase's position as a major player in the crypto ecosystem.
