A second vehicle was set on fire in less than two days in Pointe-Claire

POINTE-CLAIRE — An arson attack on a vehicle occurred in Pointe-Claire late Tuesday evening. This is the second event of its kind to have occurred in this city on the West Island of Montreal since the start of the week.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, emergency services were notified that a vehicle was on fire in the driveway of a residence located on Pendennis Avenue, near Hilary Avenue.

Firefighters brought the fire under control, but the vehicle was a total loss. The property where the vehicle was parked also suffered significant damage, according to the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).

“Following checks by officers on the scene, accelerant was found on a vehicle parked in a nearby residence entrance. For this reason, the investigation was transferred to investigators from the arson module of the SPVM,” said agent Véronique Dubuc, who is spokesperson for the SPVM.

The fire caused no injuries. The Montreal police force reported no arrests in this case early Wednesday.

This event occurred less than two days after another vehicle fire that occurred overnight from Sunday to Monday, just a few streets away.

Around 2:40 a.m. Monday, a vehicle was engulfed in flames in the private entrance of a residence located on Hastings Avenue, near Empress Avenue. An investigation was also opened by the SPVM.
