For its fifth edition, Art Takes the Air settles once again in the streets of Perpignan, but with a major novelty: a theme dedicated to the surrealist genius Salvador Dalí. In 2025, Perpignan celebrates the 60th anniversary of Dalí's triumphant journey, who, on August 27, 1965, transformed the city and the entire region into a theater of the extraordinary. In this spirit, artists are invited to revisit this surreal day by proposing their own vision of a “center of the world”. The artistic project must reflect a personal and original universe, while avoiding the simple reproduction of works by Dalí. One of the strong points of this event is the interaction with the public: passers-by will have the opportunity to follow the evolution of the creations live, from their first stroke to the final work. These artistic installations will remain visible in the city center of Perpignan until May 25, 2025.
A call for projects for talents from Occitania and southern Catalonia
The City of Perpignan is launching a call for projects aimed at street artists from Occitanie and southern Catalonia. Each selected artist will create an original work on a 25 m² rectangular structure, inspired by traditional casots agricultural. These plywood structures will be distributed in the heart of the city and will offer four sides to paint, each measuring 200 x 300 x 250 cm.
Conditions of participation:
- Deadline for applications: Monday January 27, 2025.
- Production of works: from Thursday March 20 to Sunday March 23, 2025.
- Exhibition of works: until Sunday May 25, 2025.
The jury will select eight projects on the basis of their creativity, their relevance to the theme, and their ability to enhance urban space while conveying a positive message. So, grab your brushes and spray paint! Pay homage to Dalí's legacy by offering Perpignan unique and inspiring creations, in the image of this surrealist city that he loved so much.
