The Golden Age Club in Action lives up to its name. The members of the club’s board of directors arranged to meet some 113 members at the end of year meal, in the Léopold-Delmas room, Friday, November 29, at noon. They came in large numbers: elegant ladies, well-dressed gentlemen. Beautiful tables have been set. After everyone was well seated, Danielle Jacquelot, the president, gave her welcome speech. She recalled the club’s line of conduct: “Counter isolation, build social bonds.” She announced some upcoming festive dates. The mayor then spoke of humility within this caring club, highlighting the “many smiles he had in front of him despite the existing somewhat distressing context”. Marcel Combes, active member, room driver qualified as a one-man band, with his joy and good humor, presented the eleven members of the administrative council one by one. The aperitif was served by members of the Golden Age. What followed was a delicious meal interspersed with songs, led by Dany and Gilles, sung by everyone.
The dancers, initially shy then uninhibited, occupied the entire floor with a tango or a twist. The five oldest at the club, Germain, Angèle, Geneviève, Muguette, Mireille and a special surprise for Hélène, were honored by Santa Claus himself.
