Algeria Football– Yousri Bouzok’s situation at Raja Athletic Club has recently fueled discussions, both in Morocco and Algeria. Under contract with the Casablanca club until June 2025, the Algerian striker is the subject of numerous rumors, particularly regarding a possible departure during the winter transfer window. However, the management of Raja AC was categorical: Bouzok remains an essential part of the squad and is not for sale.
A controversy narrowly avoided
Tensions around Bouzok have been exacerbated by political controversy. The expansionist map of Morocco, representing Western Sahara as an integral part of the kingdom, was to be displayed on the jerseys of Moroccan clubs in CAF interclub competitions. This could have placed Bouzok in an awkward position, given Algeria’s official support for the autonomy of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
However, Raja AC opted for a cautious stance by deciding not to use this controversial jersey, thus avoiding a potential conflict for the player. The move helped ease tensions, but rumors about Bouzok’s future continued to circulate.
Bouzok’s performances: an asset for Raja
Since his arrival at Raja AC from Paradou AC, Yousri Bouzok has distinguished himself with regular performances. During the 2024-2025 season, he scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in 17 appearances in all competitions. These statistics, although honorable, have not prevented the player from experiencing a less successful period recently, as evidenced by his less frequent starts in the last two matches.
Despite these fluctuations, Bouzok remains a key element in Raja’s offensive system. His experience and versatility in attack make him a valuable player in a team that aspires to solid performances in the Moroccan championship and in African competitions.
A future at Raja confirmed by management
Faced with rumors of an imminent transfer, in particular to the Egyptian club Zamalek SC, the management of Raja AC wanted to clarify its position. According to Khalid Fakerni, general secretary of the club, “there is no contact with Zamalek for the recruitment of Yousri Bouzok. He will continue with Raja and honor his contract.” This statement, reported by Egyptian media, puts an end to speculation for the moment.
In addition, the player’s willingness to respect his contractual commitments is also a reassuring point for Raja supporters. Despite the rumors, Bouzok seems determined to continue his Casablanca adventure.
Persistent but ill-founded rumors
Bouzok’s recent dynamic, combined with his sometimes reduced role on the pitch, inevitably fuels discussions about a possible departure. However, the clear position of the club’s management and the lack of concrete contacts with other clubs, such as Zamalek SC, make these speculations unlikely in the short term.
Raja AC, by maintaining a clear line and avoiding unnecessary controversies, has reinforced stability around Bouzok’s future. It remains to be seen if the latter will manage to regain an indisputable starting place and definitively silence the rumors.
