“We confirm that an incident involving a Bpost van and the cyclist Remco Evenepoel took place this morning,” confirmed the Belgian company via comments relayed by the site The Free. “Unfortunately we cannot go into the details of the accident, but it goes without saying that the postwoman and bpost are fully cooperating with the investigation.”

The postwoman “very affected by this incident”

The Belgian press assures that the postwoman in question opened the door of her vehicle and that Remco Evenepoel had no choice but to impale herself in it due to the suddenness of the incident. Taking responsibility for her actions, the postwoman stayed with the 2022 world champion until emergency services intervened.

“The police arrived on the scene to make the necessary findings. The postwoman also remained on site until Remco was transported to hospital,” Bpost further explained via a press release. “She is very affected by this incident.”
