Following Zionist army bombings: Hamas claims 33 hostages killed in Gaza

DIA- December 2, 2024: The Palestinian movement Hamas claims that more than 30 hostages held in the Gaza Strip have died since the start of the Israeli military operation in the enclave.

“33 Israeli prisoners [otages] were killed and traces of some were lost” due to the operations of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, Hamas indicates on its Telegram channel.

Hamas cited nine cases of hostage deaths between October 9, 2023 and November 21, 2024. They were killed, according to the movement, in shootings, bombings or ground attacks and special operations by Israeli forces. Radicals warn that if 'continued aggression' in Gaza, Israel 'could lose all hostages forever [restés en vie] ».

The situation in the Middle East suddenly deteriorated on October 7, 2023 after an attack launched by Hamas from the Gaza Strip against Israeli territory, an attack which was accompanied by the taking of around 250 hostages. Israel then began a ground operation in the enclave with the aim of dismantling the military and political structure of Hamas and freeing all those kidnapped. Fighting in the Gaza Strip continues today.

At the end of November 2023, a one-week humanitarian truce was established thanks to the mediation of Egypt and Qatar, which made it possible, according to Israel, to free more than 100 hostages. On December 1, the ceasefire was violated, hostilities resumed and are still continuing. According to the latest Israeli data, 101 people currently remain hostages in Gaza.
