The G20 member countries elected a new leader at the beginning of December 2024. The term lasts for one year and runs from December 2024 to November 2025.
The country chosen for this principal is South Africa. This is the first time that an African country has taken the helm of the organization. The G20 gives us a platform to pursue these collective goals. South Africa adopted the theme “Solidarity, equality and sustainability” for his presidency of the G20.

The objectives of the new leader
