The young man was sentenced this Monday, December 2 by the Nîmes children's court. His lawyer appealed the decision.
A 15-year-old teenager was found guilty of the fire in a business located near the new Pissevin police station in Nîmes last August, report France Bleu and France 3 Occitanie. He was sentenced to three years of placement in a closed educational center, including two years suspended, by the Nîmes children's court, this Monday, December 2.
The teenager's fingerprints were discovered on a gasoline can found at the scene of the fire, our colleagues detail. The young man admitted to being present on the night of Tuesday August 20 to Wednesday August 21 and to having transported the container, but he denied having lit the fire in the business.
A man tried next January
The lawyer for the teenager, who is banned from staying in Nîmes for three years, has indicated that she is appealing the decision which she considers too onerous, according to France Bleu Gard Lozère.
In this case, a second suspect, aged 28, was arrested. The man, who denies the facts, must appear on January 10.
Last November, the Nîmes public prosecutor announced the placement in police custody of six people in the investigation opened after the fire of the unoccupied commercial premises in Pissevin. The building adjoined the brand new police station which had opened its doors a few hours earlier in this district affected by drug trafficking.
