Certain doubtful elements led the Victoriaville Fire Safety Department to transfer to the Sûreté du Québec at the end of the day, Saturday, the file of the fire which ravaged a home on rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
“We are still awaiting feedback from the SQ regarding the cause of the fire which remains undetermined for the moment,” indicated the director of the SSI, Patrick Davidson, at www.lanouvelle.net.
The latter is delighted with the effective intervention of the firefighters, led by the operations captain, Yan Fournier. “Rapid intervention, combined with good management of the intervention and appropriate use of water, made it possible to limit losses to a single dwelling. The other five apartments were not affected and did not suffer any water infiltration. The occupants were able to return to their homes as if nothing had happened,” commented Director Davidson.
Damages to the affected home amounted to $70,000. “We managed to save everything else, a building worth about $600,000,” observed the officer.
The fire, which occurred on Saturday, mobilized around twenty firefighters.
